Born and reared in Washngton, DC, Jody Black was exposed to both the refinement of home life and the grit of the streets. His interests in the arts began at an early age. Family and friends played an integral role in developing his creative genius. Even the interloper made a lasting impact. Now, with his compassion, vision, and skillful interactions, Jody is able to aquaint himself with the essence of the human soul, which is captured in every image. In 2000, Jody Black pursued his passion for photography and purchased his first digital camera. He was soon deemed the "family photographer." In 2007, Jody was introduced to Cecil Brathwaite of Cecil Brathwaite Photography. Cecil recognized Jody's artistic talent, took him under his wings, and taught him the basics. In 2008, Cecil introduced Jody to Dickron Baghdassarian, owner of Pro Photo--the premier pro camera photo shop in Washington, DC. It was there that Jody learned sound photography fundamentals and technical proficiency. At that time, Jody's creative eye also improved. Later, another introduction was made to the award-winning photographer, Jackie Hicks. Jackie Hicks has been an immense inspiration. She helped Jody develop the sharper, more advanced and technical aspects of photography. Jody Black has since established a modern day style of photography | videography that trandscends the ordinary delivered through his signature photojournalistic style. Jody's vision and ability to create contemporary art while infusing his passion for life and people is truly beyond measure. It is this visual feast of photographic vision--the hallmark of excellence--that Modern|Quadrant has come to know.
